Elementary Calculations on the Slowing Down of Neutrons by Thin Plate

This is a proof of the manuscript of the paper, “Elementary Calculations on the Slowing Down of Neutrons by Thin Plate” (Proc. Phys.-Math. Soc. Japan 18, 507-518 (1936)), which Yukawa contributed to the journal published by the Physical and Mathematical Society of Japan. The Japanese word meaning “Urgent” is stamped in red on the front of the envelope sent to Yukawa from the office of the Physical and Mathematical Society of Japan which was located in the School of Science, Tokyo Imperial University at that time. The first page of the manuscript contains a reprint instruction. Four diagrams pasted on the manuscript are drawn on drafting paper. Yukawa kept this proof of manuscript to himself. The official proof was probably returned to the Physical and Mathematical Society of Japan. The corrections in red added on pages 20, 23 and 24 suggest his assiduous effort for improving the quality of this paper. (Written by Yutaka Hosotani)
