Review: Theory of Slow Neutrons (II)

OU1937-C7 (32 pages) Date: 1937

This is the manuscript of the general view, “Theory of Slow Neutrons (II),” submitted for the publication in the journal of the Physical and Mathematical Society of Japan. It is a sequel to the general review, “Theory of Slow Neutrons (I)” and consists of “5. Collision of Hydrogen Atoms and Neutrons in Bound State” and “6. Slowing Down of Neutrons in Hydrogen Compounds.” Slow neutrons refer to neutrons with a low energy level. (In this review, energy is referred to as “force.”) For easy understanding, Yukawa explains from various angles how neutrons lose energy when they pass through a substance. The last page contains the errata for “Theory of Slow Neutrons (I).” (Written by Yutaka Hosotani)
