Colloquium: Origin of Ferromagnetism of Fe, Co and Ni
OU1936-A4 (11 pages) Date: May 21, 1936
In the colloquium held on May 21, Yukawa explained the origin of the ferromagnetism of Fe, Co and Ni. In his lecture, Yukawa explained Slater’s paper (J.C. Slater, Phys. Rev. 49, 537 (1936)). Yukawa discussed the origin of the ferromagnetism of Fe, Co and Ni from the perspective of quantum mechanics. Yukawa tried to convince his colleagues of the critical importance of quantum mechanics in understanding the characteristics (properties) of various substances. This paper reflects the enthusiasm of Yukawa as a pioneer in physics.
