Memo for the 66th Physics Colloquium

OU1935-B4 (3 pages) Date: December 19, 1935

This memo was written for the 66th Physics Colloquium, but in a way, it looks like a table of the contents of the lecture for the next 67th Physics Colloquium, “Cohesive Force in Metals.” The lecture manuscript he wrote had the same date as this memo. Whether Yukawa presented the lecture in both 66th and 67th colloquia is not known.

Yukawa recognized in early years the importance of understanding the crystal structures of metals, electrons in metals and chemical properties based on quantum mechanics. He apprehended the papers written by Slater, Hund, Wigner, Seitz and others and explained to others. The tables of melting points, crystal structures and electron configurations of various substances on pages 2 and 3 are interesting.
