Note on Bethe’s paper (Capture of Neutrons)
OU1935-A5 (4 pages) Date: Not indicated
In this note, Yukawa redid the calculations himself after reading Bethe’s paper, “Capture of Neutrons, Feb 1935.” The figure of the potential he drew on page 2 is interesting. It is infinite potential well added with a finite barrier, and expressed the excited states of protons and neutrons in an unstable nucleus. Yukawa used a red pencil to better understand the bound state and metastable state. (Written by Yutaka Hosotani)
